What happens in your hour
Water testing
How to actually read your water, what the numbers mean, and how often to check.
Your equipment, explained
Pump, filter, heater, salt cell or chemical feeders, whatever you've got. What each part does and what upkeep it needs.
The weekly routine
Skimmer basket, brushing, pump run time, testing cadence. The short list that actually matters.
Vacuuming, walked through
Hands-on with your specific setup, so it's not a mystery next time you need to do it.
What this isn't: I don't add chemicals, perform repairs, or diagnose structural or plumbing issues. This is knowledge transfer, one hour of straight, practical answers so you understand what you own.
One exception: pool automation systems (Pentair IntelliCenter, Jandy iAqualink, Hayward OmniLogic, and others) are each their own world, different apps, different wiring, different logic, and one doesn't transfer to another. If your system needs more than a quick overview, that may mean a short second visit and an additional charge once I've looked into your specific setup.
This is probably for you if
- You just moved into a house with a pool and nobody handed you a manual
- Your pool guy's advice never seems to go past "add more chlorine"
- You're thinking about dropping your service and doing it yourself, but don't know where to start
- You just want to understand what you're paying for, whether that's your own time or someone else's
Why Jay
8 years in the pool industry, managing Leslie's Pool Supplies stores, running two pool service routes of my own, and handling commercial accounts at hotels and apartment complexes. I've been on both sides of this, the guy explaining the water test, and the guy who operates/runs the pool. This house call is the version of that conversation I wish more people got.

Good to know before you book
Cancellation & refunds: Booking takes a $25 deposit, credited toward your $99 visit. Cancel or reschedule more than 24 hours before your visit and the deposit is refunded in full. Less than 24 hours' notice, or nobody home at the scheduled time, and the deposit is forfeited. The remaining $74 is only ever due at the visit itself, so nothing else is charged if you cancel in time. If Jay determines on arrival that a house call isn't the right fit for your situation, everything is refunded, deposit included.
Scope acknowledgment: Booking a visit means you're agreeing to the scope described above: an in-home educational session, not chemical service, equipment repair, or structural/plumbing work. Pool Genie House Call and Pool Care Genie LLC aren't liable for pre-existing equipment issues or conditions at the property; this visit is knowledge transfer, not a service or repair contract.
